Loudhailer Introduction
Loudhailers provide several worthwhile features on larger boats, including ship-to-shore hailer, ship-to-ship hailer, foghorn, audio amplifier, intercom, and alarm system.
Installation
Loudhailers are connected to speakers, intercom switches, waterproof horns, microphones, external inputs (example: CD player), etc. So the electrical installation can become complex. If you are not comfortable doing this consult a professional installer.
Provide a dedicated, clean source of 12 VDC power for your Loudhailer that can supply 10 amps.
Loudhailers can be mounted on a bracket or flush mounted. Check the unit dimensions in the Guide to determine which will fit your boat.
Display
The Loudhailer’s display indicates the feature status.
Choosing Your Loudhailer
First, decide which features are important on your boat. Review the Comparison Guide and feature list carefully and choose the Loudhailer that meets your needs.
